Passport expiry issues

Everything you ever wanted to know about passport expiration dates. Bad news: You have booked flights, you are ready for release and notice passport expires in less than 6 months. Does this mean you will get through immigration, or to be returned on the next flight? Immigration or care, provided that the passport is still valid? There is much confusion on this issue and given the high stakes, very worrying too.

The answer is that it all depends on your passport and your destination:
Some countries have six months authority strict rule in place. If your passport expires within 6 months from the date of coming will be turned to immigration, if not before his departure at the airport. These include: Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, UAE, Brazil, Ecuador, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Paraguay, Tunisia, Romania, Singapore, and surprisingly, Belgium.

Other countries of the 3-months. They include: Cambodia, Denmark, Fiji, Switzerland, South Africa, New Zealand, Croatia and Estonia

Many countries, however, it is a passport valid for the duration of your stay. Among them are: Kenya, Tanzania, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, UK and USA.

There are some exceptions: EU citizens only ever need a valid passport, regardless of the date to travel to other EU countries. U.S. citizens need only a license or a valid passport to enter Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and all USA.

For all other nationalities: rather than risk traveling with a passport that expires in 6 months or less, you are advised to get your passport renewed or get urgently passport before traveling.

It is usually possible to get an emergency passport issued within two weeks or less, though it will cost you. In the U.S. this is called an expedited renewal and in some cases take at least an hour issue.
At the last minute passport renewal

It is generally possible to get an emergency passport issued within two weeks or less, though it will cost you. In the U.S. this is called an expedited renewal. Brian Clucas headquarters of Visa says that "regular application can be processed within 4-6 days, while rapid passport applications as a whole can be obtained within 2-3 days."
Clucas appellants that if they hold a current passport, or will expire soon this will help - as opposed to lost, damaged or passport. furthermore, asking for a replacement passport on holiday or high travel seasons such as summer can lead to delays in processing.

Children and passports
Different rules apply to children when renewing passports. Not renewing the services for minors (children under 16 years). They should follow the first procedure passport time until they turn 16. Another problem is that children's passports are only valid for 5 years; adult passport is good for 10 years "Gregeris occurs more than one situation in which parents do not realize that your passport is valid for longer than their children and never travel past the airport of departure.

One must not forget that U.S. citizens must have a valid passport, regardless of age. Even newborn babies should have their own passport - children can not travel in their parent's passport. Check with your consulate to see if similar rules apply to your nationality.

Some other points to note:
  1. Yet when a country's published rules state otherwise, you may encounter problems of uninformed immigration officials or airline when the passport is less than six months left to run.
  2. Many tour operators will not even take a reservation unless you have 6 months validity remaining on your passport.
  3. Several accounts point out that many countries will not issue a visa before travel if there are less than six months to get the passport.
  4. Most Arab or Middle Eastern countries will decline entry to you if you have an Israeli stamp in their passport. Apply for a new, if so.
  5. The passport must have enough blank pages - if yours is full you can apply for new pages added.
  6. U.S. citizens must have a valid passport, regardless of age. Even newborn babies should have their own passport - children can not travel on their parent’s passport. Check with your consulate to see if similar rules apply to your nationality.
